Hot Tubs & Saunas

Some studies suggest that sauna and hot tub use may cause an increase in a woman’s core body temperature and lead to birth defects in a developing baby. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists advises pregnant women to remain in saunas for no more than 15 minutes and hot tubs for no more than 10 minutes. It’s also suggested that a pregnant woman avoid submerging her head, arms and shoulders in the hot tub to decrease the areas exposed to heat.
