Illegal Drugs

Using such illegal drugs as marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, methamphetamine and heroin while you’re pregnant can increase the risks of many serious problems. They may cause preterm birth, interfere with the baby’s growth or cause birth defects or learning and behavioral problems. It may seem obvious, but you should not take any illegal drugs while you are pregnant. If you are addicted to any of these drugs and find it difficult to quit, it’s important to seek help right away from a drug abuse treatment program in your area. Breaking a drug addiction is tough, so don’t try to do it alone. Tell your health care provider that you need help. Narcotics Anonymous is a good resource.
